Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Kalyanam
The celebrated wedding of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar (Shiva).
Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Kalyanam
Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Kalyanam re-enacts one of the most widely known temple weddings in vedic tradition — the marriage of Goddess Meenakshi (a form of Parvathi) to Lord Sundareswarar (Shiva), most famously celebrated annually at Madurai during Chaitra month.
Families outside Madurai frequently sponsor their own version of this kalyanam, particularly those with a family connection to the Meenakshi temple or a vow made there. We coordinate the full ceremony — priest, samagri, decoration and the wedding rites — wherever it's being held.
The ceremony follows the traditional Madurai-style sequence: sankalpam, the ceremonial adornment of the deities, mangalya dharanam and the garland exchange, with Vedic chanting continuing throughout. It closes with maha mangalarati and prasadam for everyone present.
What to expect
- Mandapam and deity decoration in the Meenakshi Kalyanam style
- Wedding rites performed in the traditional sequence
- Suitable as a standalone sponsored event through the year, not only in Chaitra
Conducted by
